Snow Blowing is the process of removing snow with the aid of a mechanical device called a snow blower. Snow blowers typically come in two styles ('Single-stage' or 'Two-stage') and can clear a path of snow anywhere from the width of a walkway to the width of a driveway (ie. from 18" to 92"). OREM uses two-stage blowers for driveway clearing operations and single-stage (or hand shovels) ones for its walkway clearing operations.
An alternative method of snow clearing is snow plowing, which entails pushing snow with a pick up truck and blade. The advantage of snow blowing over snow plowing is that, unlike with a plow truck which pushes snow into a pile on the corner of your lawn, a snow blower can blow snow into the center of your lawn, thereby maximizing the available space you have on your property for storage of snow.

There are many reasons why this is a good idea. Here are our top 3:
Less Injuries! It is no secret that shovelling or snow blowing your driveway by hand is very difficult on your entire body – especially your back. Your physical state is important and with the winters we have experienced recently, clearing snow yourself puts this at risk! Let us do the heavy lifting.
Less Frustration! After spending your energy and time on your driveway it is finally clear – until the city plow comes by! Let us take care of this extra effort and timing. We will ensure your driveway is professionally cleared both before and after the city plow comes. Your peace of mind is our priority!
Efficiency! You no longer need to spend your valuable time clearing your driveway. Why shovel or blow snow when our expert and efficient service can clear your driveway all winter long for only one set rate? Your time is valuable!

Although we would love to be able to guarantee a 9:00 AM completion time it would be deceptive advertising to do so, as we cannot guarantee when the snow will start! Obviously the later the snow starts the later we start. In order to predict our arrival time on your driveway, therefore, assume the following. We will wait at least 2 hours for enough snow to fall (at least 1 inch) before we will send out our equipped team. You can then add another 6 hours onto this time (if you are at the very end of a route) and this will be the latest you can realistically expect to see us for your first cleaning.
For instance, if it starts snowing before midnight you can rest assured that all driveways will be cleared once before 6:30 am. If it only starts to snow after midnight, however, we will not send our team out until at least 2-3AM, meaning that 75% of our driveways will be cleared by 6:30 AM and the other 25% by 8:00 AM. Of course, when the snow starts at only 3 AM or 4 AM we won’t send our team out until 6 AM! Usually, by this time there isn’t enough snow to prevent anyone from getting out of his/her driveway. In the event of an emergency, if our team has not yet passed by and you foresee having a problem getting out of your driveway, please give us a call and we will dispatch a team directly to your location.

We perform repeat cleanups after the city plows. In other words, if we come through for a first cleaning at 6 AM you can expect to see us come back through again by 11 AM to clear away the bank of snow left at the end of your driveway by the city plow. If you need to get out before we naturally make it around for our second cleaning please call the office and we will dispatch a team to your location within a half hour. Otherwise please be patient. We will naturally swing back around again within that 4-5 hour timeframe.

No, our team are trained to work around them. And, generally, by the time the driver makes his second pass (4-5 hours later) parked cars have usually been moved to allow for a full cleaning of the driveway. If you expect to have a car on the driveway when we arrive we recommend that you make sure to place it as close to the top and side of the driveway as possible to allow the driver maximum accessibility, or to move it onto the street if possible. If not the driver will at least clear away behind where the car is parked including any snow banks left by the city plow.
Please note, for the sake of efficiency, that we do not ask our team to knock on your door to get you to move your vehicle(s).

No, salt has been known to cause grass damage. If it is applied to the surface of your driveway it will be dispersed onto your lawn during subsequent visits to your property with our snowblowers. In the event of freezing rain therefore, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to apply any necessary abrasives.

In its broadest sense, a snow removal contract is an invoice for driveway and/or walkway snow clearing services. It is submitted by the contractor (OREM) to the client (you) for services it agrees to render during a set timeframe, for a set location and set price. In most cases, pricing is based upon a fixed seasonal rate for different size driveways and walkways.
